Just Released! Two New OIG Reports
The BART Office of the Inspector General (OIG) has released two new reports:
Certain Labor Code Certifications Not Applicable to BART’s Oakland Airport Connector
This report examines claims that BART’s contractor for the Oakland Airport Connector (OAC) failed to meet California Labor Code certification requirements for mechanics. While the Labor Code outlines these requirements, the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) determined these provisions do not apply to the OAC due to existing, more stringent safety oversight from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). The allegation was not substantiated, and we have no recommendations.

We investigated three allegations of misconduct – time theft, vehicle misuse, and use of BART prestige for personal gain. The findings revealed that the time theft allegation had no merit, the vehicle misuse stemmed from a past management practice that has since been addressed, and the misuse of BART prestige related to a private matter currently in civil litigation. None of the allegations were substantiated, and we have no recommendations.
